A small-scale renovation in the Poblenou district of Barcelona. A duplex with a gabled roof, a spiral staircase, and a reconfiguration of its domestic spaces. The intervention focuses on reorganising the interior and calibrating the dimensions of each room according to its function.
Starting from the existing entrance and a secondary room, the bathroom and kitchen are interchanged to establish a visual connection with the living room. The extension of the kitchen wall, articulated by an oculus as a defining element, introduces a secondary relationship with the staircase. As one moves through the space, light and shadow are framed from a single point of view. The remaining elements are resolved with restraint, set against a white backdrop and a ceramic floor.
On the upper floor, which opens onto a large terrace, the bathroom, wardrobe, and storage areas are repositioned to achieve a more balanced spatial proportion. By relocating the access door and introducing a glazed enclosure, the staircase is clearly defined, establishing a coherent relationship between entrance and room. The oculus reappears within this sequence of openings.
