The commission consisted in the design of a theatrical model for a fashion show by the Barcelona-based brand Nimph. A dreamlike intention to represent the space of the studio-shop itself led us to conceive a theatrically distorted model, understood as an opening into the designer’s inner world.
Drawing on Renaissance references such as the Teatro Olímpico (1580) by Andrea Palladio and the Teatro all’Antica (1590) by Vincenzo Scamozzi, the proposal takes the form of a model that deforms under the viewer’s gaze. Using forced perspective, it produces a miniaturization of the objects found within the studio—scissors, buttons, pins, pattern paper, fabrics—an endless accumulation of elements that configure an interior universe typically concealed from view.
The ultimate reference lies in the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque, in the Galleria Spada (1653) by Francesco Borromini, where reality itself is distorted as a transitional space in which systems of representation and construction merge into a kind of solidified dream. In a similar way, the Dream Studio Miniature opens to allowing the models to take small tools during the show, thus approaching that intimate moment of creation that precedes the act of dressing.
